Does anyone know what the status is with this? I understand a boules pitch is tentatively planned for next to or near the Clubhouse - is that right?

My great grandfather John Howard was born in Cuddington 1842 - parents William Howard & Hannah Brooks, who married in St. Nicolas' Church,Cuddington. They resided at Baverstock Lane, Cuddington 1841-1851 Census & later resided Town's End Haddenham, 1861 Census. His parents died in Haddenham. John migrated to Victoria, Australia about 1862. I would like to connect with relatives who might be in interested in family history. Regards Rod Fogarty

I believe my great Grandfather lived there.

The Gnomes of Cuddington are very excited, and proud of 'Old Mike' of the 'Old Place'. He is normally a quiet and retiring, if well-sighted, brother. His selecton as the gnome to open the fete does us all honour. In order to support him we have directed his human helper to feed him royally on his favourite minnows and mushrooms with liberal drinkings of elderflower wine. At 2pm on July 11th Old Mike will do what no gnome has ever done before - open a fete! At least it is a novel activity for him as for years he has done nothing but fish! Whispers of excitement are evident in the Cuddington gnome community. On 17th May one of our brothers - Borage - gallantly infiltrated the Chelsea Flower Show from which we are banned by the snooty gardening elite! Borage was eventually ejected but behaved with the sang froid for which we are rightly famous. Borage's human friend asserted "I think Borage is in wonderfully good taste. He is not brightly coloured. He is a subtle gnome, though definitely not upper class". Our day draws near. On 11th July at Cuddington fete both our subtlety and good taste will be abundantly on show for all to see. Go gnome!!

THE RUBY SMALL SUNRISE WALK

GARDENS OPEN IN CUDDINGTON

The national Gardens Scheme (NGS) open many hundreds of private gardens throughout the UK for the public to enjoy. Cuddington will open five of its private gardens on Sunday June 21st at 33 Bernard Close, Box Cottage, The Old Place, The old School House, and Tyringham Hall. Plants will be on sale. Tyringham Hall will serve tea and cakes. You can visit all five gardens for a single payment of 5 per person children are free. All monies go to the NGS registered charity

Gnomes at Home

More good news for Cuddington gnomes! At the recent Calor Gas 'Village of the Year' judging in the Bernard Hall, one of our brothers, old Mike, performed boldly and heroically. He sat static, as is our habit, with his fishing rod and bucket for an hour while the human activities took place. Occasionally, ever conscious of his public face, his little helper adjusted his beard and secured his pointed red hat. On cue, when the July fete was mentioned, he gradually emerged from his slumber and revealing a fluent command of the human language, called all to attend the 2009 village fete. Eloquently he spoke of the theme of the fete, 'gnomes at home', and movingly told of our excitement at the success of our Gnome Liberation Front's platform advocating the release of garden gnomes into the nearby Bernwood Forest. "Glade not Garden"! We owe great gnomic gratitude to our brother, old Mike. "The boy done well" - as the ungrammatical humans sometimes say!

GENTLEMAN'S DINING CLUB

It read in volume eleven October 2008 of the Village Voice GENTLEMEN'S DINING CLUB. A number of gentlemen in the Village would like to begin a gentlemans dining club. The club would meet every three months for dinner or lunch. Interested gentlemen please telephone Phil Johnson 291526.

Over twenty gentlemen have shown an interest. We now have to decide should it be lunch or dinner.The first meal in April may be at the Crown in Cuddington, subsequent meals will be at different venus chosen by the diners.
